S-upporting in T-hanksgiving all O-pportunities to N-urture and E-ncourage (STONE)

As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-- {5} you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. {6} For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." I Peter 2:4-6

Purpose: Support, Encourage, Partner, Pray!

Scroll down to the bottom of this page for Minutes of past meetings.

Mission: CLS Parents partnering with and praying for CLS staff and students to fulfill our Lord’s mandate and our Good Shepherd’s mission to encourage our children to be “living stones,” to “put their trust in the Lord,” and to have life in Him “to the full”!

Roles, Scope, and Spheres of Influence and Blessing for our Children – revealed in the following questions:
1. Prayer!
2. How can we encourage the CLS experience to be a holy, happy, life-transforming, disciple-deepening, well-rounded, well-angled, and lifetime-memory making experience?
3. How can we encourage but not manipulate, protect but not smother, suggest but not control our children’s experiences in pursuit of #1 goals?
4. Fund-, Friend-, and Resource-Raising to benefit our students in pursuit of the mission and foundational documents of CLS.
5. What are “best practices” for Christian parenting – and how can the CLS parents mutually encourage one another and individually strive to more faithfully model our Lord’s Biblical guidelines for parenting through worship, Scripture reading, prayer, service, etc.?

CORNERSTONE “filters” in striving to keep the whole CLS Body of Christ in mind:
1. Jesus-Proof everything: The CORNERSTONE organization will be mindful of, and outwardly expressive of, the unashamed invitation of and acknowledgement of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of CLS and its constituents in everything CLS does, sponsors, prints, or advertises. Further, the CORNERSTONE (along with the entire staff) will strive to reflect Jesus Christ – His servanthood, His compassion, and His love – in everything it does.
2. Edification: The CORNERSTONE organization is for partnering, supporting, encouraging, enhancing, building up, and fostering communication among the CLS Body of Christ. CORNERSTONE meetings are forums for positive and constructive partnership only. Concerns should be taken personally and privately to an administrator.
3. Timing: The ability to adequately and properly time events so to not overlap and to ensure best attendance.
4. Boundaries and Context: We need to respect the Principal’s role of overseeing the entire operation of the school. Therefore, all suggestions are passed through him via appropriate CORNERSTONE liaisons, such as Pastor Bill, Mrs. Richards, and, if desired, a parent. The principal is the one who keeps a finger on the “pulse” of the entire school culture.
5. Resources: Recognizing that the administrative staff are working a strategic, balanced, and planned process of program development, the CORNERSTONE partnership will seek to enhance the students’ overall experience within the mission and outcome goals of CLS by providing leadership and attention-to-detail in all CORNERSTONE programs (including calendar coordination, attention to staff- and parent-chaperones, insurance exposure, facility coordination, etc.).
6. Respect for all: The CORNERSTONE organization recognizes that some parents choose to be more engaged and active than others. The CORNERSTONE organization will be sensitive to, and respect, each parent’s perspective on this. The administration, not the CORNERSTONE, will evaluate and respond to the appropriate level of parental involvement.
7. Stewardship Conscious: The CORNERSTONE organization will be careful to reflect that the chief treasure of the school is and always will be Jesus Christ and His Holy Word. Care will be taken to avoid excesses in expenditures or outward appearances that would betray such priority.
